Went in once for an oil change. Everything was great. Went in soon after for a transmission flush and it seemed like everything was fine until an oily smell started coming through my car vents. Went to a Honda dealership that told me they forgot to put the cap back on and that I needed a new transmission flush. I was livid. Reached out to the owner and he was very apologetic and offered me a free oil change to earn my trust back (Never got a refund because it was through Groupon and apparently Groupon doesn't give reimbursements after they have been redeemed). A few months passed and I decided to reach back out and see if the free oil change was still available. After being assured that it was I went back in and got my oil changed free of charge. On the ride home I noticed a loud scraping sound coming from the bottom of my car. I pulled over thinking I just may have ran something over and it got caught on the bottom of the car. Got back on the interstate and the issue persisted so I found the nearest auto repair shop to see what was wrong. A kind man at the front desk came to look under my car real quick and said my lower engine cover had been damaged and was scraping against another part in the wind. Unbelievable! Don't understand how they have good ratings. 2 HORRIBLE experiences in a row and the owner just asked for me to give them a 5-star reviews on all their platforms. They should be sued!!
Kevin, In case you have not seen it yet, or maybe it got caught in a spam folder, here is a copy of the email I sent to you yesterday: Email sent June 17, 2021: Thank you for bringing this to my attention. If this happened to me, I would feel exactly as you do. I totally understand that you have no reason to trust me and no reason to trust our reviews at this point. While it would be highly uncharacteristic for any of our technicians to leave the lower engine cover loose (such that the wind would make it touch the ground at highway speeds), you clearly had that experience and I trust what you have described. I have already started looking into this and confirmed that the lower engine cover does get removed to access the oil plug, which means it is possible that our technician left it loose and the highway-speed wind pulled it to the asphalt. What you described lines up with that scenario, which would be why you would not have seen it down when you stopped (it would only touch the ground with highway speed wind). It is also entirely possible that it broke after being dragged on the asphalt. My next step is to review our security camera footage. If our technician made this mistake, then I need to deal with that appropriately internally. This is not at all acceptable. We almost never have these kinds of issues and that’s because we take it seriously if it does happen. I don’t expect you to remain a customer, as I understand that your trust has been broken. I still want to do right by you though. You should not have to pay for a new lower engine cover if we made a mistake. To that end, I would like to replace it at no charge. If you already had it replaced at the other shop already, I would like to reimburse you for the cost. I will investigate further and want to do right by you. Please let me know when we can replace the cover or send me the invoice so we can reimburse you. I am also available to talk by phone tomorrow or meet you at the shop in person, if you like. Again, thank you for reaching out to me.
